Why have a website?

There are many reasons for having a website. Firstly, it is one of the quickest ways for people to find information about a company or product without having to actually speak to someone. Imagine people being able to access information about the products and services your company offers but rather than just 9:00am – 5:30pm they can all the time 7 days a week 365 days a year. That’s what the Internet can give you.

A website allows you to promote yourself to a larger audience than you could traditionally target. It will allow you to display more of your products and services to current and potential clients than you would normally be able to reach through print.

It will allow you to maintain your brochure online and display your goods and services in a live and interactive medium. This has the advantage over a printed brochure because your website will be cheaper to maintain and is updateable, which is useful for promotions and special offers. Your printed adverts can be referenced to your website address where special offers or deals can be viewed in greater detail.

To customise or create bespoke designs, we currently use programs such as the Macromedia MX Studio, which comprises of Dreamweaver, MX for HTML sites, Flash MX, for Flash based interactive sites and Firework MX, for menu’s and other navigational objects to create our websites mixed with those Adobe Photoshop 7 for other graphical needs. This gives us the cutting edge of technology and software to create pretty much anything you or your company desires, whether that’s animations, scrolling text, interactive navigation systems or just a simple static HTML website.

We also have a great database developer capable of creating any database solution needed whether its website or system based.

How much will my website cost?

The cost of a website varies depending on your needs. Generally, other website companies charge on a per page basis with discounted rates if a high number of pages are needed but we believe that this can be unfair and not the way forward. We price all our websites individually on customer wants and needs. This is beneficial to you because we will not add on extra pages that won’t necessarily add to the impact you are looking for. We also have a policy in place, that if you find a cheaper quote anywhere else we will do our best to match it, providing you send us a copy of the quote outlining what work is included. We aim to match these wherever possible because your business is important to us. We also provide Flash movies or banner advertisements but these are usually quoted at an additional cost unless otherwise stated. If you already have a site and want to give it a new look we price this at an hourly rate. This is because all the text and images are in a computerised format and can be easily manipulated into your new design.

Need a domain name?

DCS Webhosts are able to register your domain at competitive prices. At the moment we are developing a online system so that you can register and configue your own domain name. We also offer managed domain name services where we can add in email accounts, change email accounts and manage your domain name on your behalf. E-Commerce?

If you are in the business of selling then we say yes to E-commerce. E-commerce will enable you to sell your products twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. Just think no more missed sales because your business is closed. You will have the potential to reach all corners of the U.K., Europe and the rest of the world! For a fee we will use the latest e-commerce software to design your shop, provide a secure server to store your online shop and register you for either a net bank or other online credit card facility to take payments for your goods. You will have the opportunity to update your own product list with new items or sale promotions if required or why not save the bother and let us update it for you?

We have various solutions on offer from a simple cost effective package using Paypal to a custom built package made for your needs.

How can I keep the website up to date?

Keeping your website up to date is almost as important as having a website on the Internet. If people visit your site for the first time and then visit it again a few months later and the information is exactly the same the chances are your information or products will be out of date. This will prove frustrating and they may choose a competitor instead. This is why it is important to update your site as often as you can. Even if its only your main home page once every few months.

DCS provide a variety of solutions for updating your website ranging from us doing it for you or we can provide a web based option where updating your site is as easy as sending an email or writing a letter on a word processing program such as Microsoft Word.
